This is the bureau I mentioned in my 1/2 way projects/procrastination post. I purchased it for about $100 at Upscale Resale and then managed to wait about 4 years before painting it Floradora by Pratt & Lambert. It felt a bit bold at first but now I find it fresh, working well in the summer and the rest of the year too. I trimmed out the flush drawers with gold metallic paint.
This bird is from Alessandra Branca's store in Chicago. He was only $20. I love his expression.
Below is a faux bird nest and bird, resting in my great grandmother's transferware compote. (thanks Mom) As you can tell I like to be greeted by birds in my entry way.
Here's the original yellow finish - captured when I remembered I had forgotten to take a photo before starting.
Here's a close-up of one of the handles.
Your entry looks totally GREAT! Cabinet is perfect with all decorations.

Very nice! I love your drawers, the gold accent is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThat turned out really well!
ReplyDeleteWOW!! I am LOVING that dresser. Not only is the color choice stunningly beautiful....but that touch of gold really gives it depth and character!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
oh it's so cheerful, I really love it! I especially love your blue door way and your wreath :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the gold trim around the drawers too, was that difficult to do?
Thanks for all the kind comments. Architect Design - for the gold trim I just placed painter's tape to mark the edge. My first mistake though was to worry too much about bleeding so I pressed the tape down very hard. When I lifted it up I ended up pulling off the green paint! So after repairs, I lightly put on the painters tape and all was well.
ReplyDeleteNotting, you may be right about the yellow...I like the yellow in your entry hall too...Hum...to be continued...
ReplyDeleteSo pretty...the wreath amazing! I expected this from you...very talented.
ReplyDeleteI learned something the other day...if you dry brush along the tape line first, the paint won't bleed under it.
Love the colour of the dresser...nice choice...I need a blue equivilent.
Merry Christmas!
What a great job you have done. I love the color you choose and the way you painted the edges of the drawers with gold and your blue front door is smashing!!!
ReplyDeleteso pretty! I love the gold trim. and the hardware!
ReplyDeleteI would love to be greeted like that everyday! Beautiful entry!

ReplyDeleteThe green looks fantastic!! What a pretty piece:)
ReplyDeleteI love square wreaths!!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks lovely.
Fantastic job on the dresser, Michele! And I love that you used your grandmother's compote - I'm always looking for ways for clients (and me!) to put beautiful but never-used china to good use. It's an excellent perch for your little friend!
ReplyDeleteThe chest looks great! I love your idea of ripping out the closet to make an entry. Most homes have those entry closets, and they aren't really big enough to function well.

ReplyDeleteMichele, this is so inviting. I love the dresser, and they are so versatile with keys, caps, scarves etc. The gold around the drawer edge is very finishing and those ceramic pieces MAKE the entry!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colour! Love what you have done with this piece and much nicer to open the door to than a closet - well done! Tracey x
ReplyDeleteMichele, I love the chest it turned out beautifullly. Simple yet very elegant, and the color! What an inspiration....
ReplyDeletekudos! the gold on the drawers is a lovely touch.
ReplyDeleteThat green looks great! For me, that color is so difficult to use. It can either look amazing or super ugly, and this is definitely amazing. As for that hardware, I wanted to note that I found some similar things for really good prices at yourhomesupply.com. They have a great variety and they shipped my order really quickly. I hope that helps. Great Work!
