July 4th - Country Club Style

Living in the DC area I probably shouldn't admit that I've never been to the Mall to watch the fireworks. Instead we choose convenience, thanks to the graciousness of the Washington Golf and Country Club membership who open their grounds every year to non-members for a wonderful fireworks show.
Blanket in hand we walk over to the club, past wonderful homes built in the 1920's-1940's. I've always loved this house and it looks particularly special with this vintage blue convertible car parked out front. I'm often photographing homes when I'm on travel but this is a good reminder to head out into my own neighborhood soon to take some photos.

Check out the little flags at the front of the car.

I have heard that there are some people in Atlanta who join a club entirely for the 4th of July festivities - amazing that the DC club opens their doors wide open!

Love the image of the white house and the blue car.

Quite beautiful! And as a former DC/MD/VA resident, I think that's the better choice than watching the fireworks on the mall. Quite lovely!

I love the front yard of the house with the blue convertible! I want to sit on that lawn and watch fireworks. Lovely country club view, too!

I've never been to the mall either-we live across from Belle Haven Country Club, so we can watch the fireworks right from our house. We also watched the ones from National Harbor right from our house-they were great! Your photos are wonderful.

You must live in or around Country Club Hills. Love that area! I grew up in McLean and miss the DC area on the 4th. Thanks for the pictures and the memories!
