Living the Dream - Only to Have it Crushed

He was up in cental NY just to have my car serviced at the place where we buy all our Saabs. The phone rang.
"Claude's got this great convertible..."

We already have 3 Saabs (albeit one is quite old) and we don't need another one.
I looked at the picture they emailed me. He looked so happy. He promised he'd wear sunblock every time he drove with the top down.
To my own surprise, I said, "GET IT - Life is short!"

Then the phone rang at Tired Iron Saab. The guy who had first dibs on it called with minutes to spare to say he decided he wanted it.

The phone rang here. "The other guy got it."
age 47 - living the dream, if only for 15 minutes.

oooh, I LOVE Saabs! I had a black convertible but had to sell it when I moved to NYC :(

So jealous you have 3-although if they're anything like mine, at least one is in the shop right now!

...the important thing in this story is not that he did not get it...the important thing is that you told him "to get it"...in the end that is all that matters...

Don't you love Saabs? I was so happy when I found a Saab mechanic who told me it'll last me forever if I want it to.

Doesn't the saying go something like...it's better to have dreamed and lost than to not dream at all?

Actually when I read the title I was expecting a picture of your car crushed by a tree from that monster storm. Lots of that in Alexandria last week. Good for you saying buy it.

Michele - I had a black Saab 900S when I met Grant. I LOVED that car!!!!!! The perfect convertible will come around...and you're right, he should get it and throw caution and everything else to the wind!!!!

My whole family drives Saab, but then we are Swedes.
I' m so happy they saved the company.....

Age 47, my husband bought his first Saab Convertible...and to remember Sweden has a rather short summer.

Do I need to say he loves his car!! Yes, he needs sunblock....Yes, he looks happy driving his car.

So go for it, I will admit it's rather nice to drive!

Thanks for a great and inspiring blog,
Ingela
