Veranda April 2011 - Grand Slam Home Run!

Dara Caponigro and her staff hit it out of the park with the April issue of Veranda! This issue is a top-notch stand out, replete from cover-to-cover with beautifully executed and inspirational design. Above is the foyer of a Florida home designed by James Michael Howard in collaboration with homeowners Robert and Sallie Ann Hart. I just received my issue last night and have already spent an inordinate amount of time drinking in every detail of these faux bois walls and limed wood pieces. (photography by Miguel Flores-Vianna)
DC designer Frank Babb Randolph transformed a Georgetown home into a refined, light-filled space that showcases the paintings of owner Robert Rea, whose work is carried by Susan Calloway Fine Art. Perfectly placed splashes of color throughout the home create a beautiful balance of energy and calm. I love the styling of this table - gorgeous! (Photography by Max Kim-Bee, styling by Olga Naiman)

Designer Roberto Bergero's Parisian pied-a-terre masterfully showcases color blocking that is classic, balanced and vibrant all at the same time. Every image in this spread is stunning. (Photography by Rene Stoeltie)
Just one more - a classic library designed by Peggy Stone with formal furnishings that still create a lived in, comfortable feel. Notice the subtle and interesting detail in the drapes - she trimmed them in a slightly different shade of gray. (Photography by Peter Vitale)

I haven't been this excited about an issue of a shelter magazine in a long time.
Thank you, thank you Veranda!

Wow this is lovely. I live in a farmhouse...but oh how I drool over the new gray and beige colors that are so soothing and popular. Love the photos you tickled our fancy with.

I haven't seen the current issue of Veranda yet, but I was just thinking last night about how wonderful Veranda is. And with Margaret Russell at the helm of AD, it's become a magazine worth buying once again. Elle Decor is kind of hit and miss these days. And poor old House Beautiful ... well, if it doesn't improve soon, I won't be buying it.

I agree. I bought it yesterday at the supermarket and was gobsmacked at how gorgeous it was. Half way through the Jim Howard spread I was like "this looks like Suzanne Kasler" and flipped back to see it was Jim. Two of my favorite designers, so I got mixed up! I loved the other houses too. That library you showed is stunning. I stared at it for about 20 minutes last night in bed (gee, that sounds pathetic).
Since House Beautiful has been so unreliable (and weird, for lack of a better word) lately, it is nice to see a clean, stylish, gorgeous, pitch-perfect shelter issue...

LOVE the center table in the photograph of the foyer... this issue is exceptional. I was worried about Veranda for a while, but they're definitely back on track.

The sofa in the last picture is gorgeous. I'm going to have to trudge out to my mailbox in the drizzle and see if I can find who made it. I posted about the Howard's knock out "shop" in Charlotte last July. It is unbelievable.
Best,
