Merry Christmas!

While Christmas Day is full of joy and fun, Christmas Eve is just as magical. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday season!   xoxo Michele

Long lay the world in sin and error pining
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn  (O Holy Night)

Deep Breath

The major purchases have been made, mostly, but there's alot left to buy to fill in. I think I've been sick at least half the month so far, even though I got the flu shot.  Time to take a deep breath before heading out into the fray.  Hope your weekend is a great one!   Michele  (Design by Windsor Smith)

Lincoln in this Library

Victoria Hagan's library design is chic, luxe and beautiful.  And while I enjoyed the eye candy of it all, the prominently featured portrait of Abraham Lincoln led me off on a search of his quotes.  This one in particular struck me,
"Public sentiment is everything. With public sentiment, nothing can fail. Without it, nothing can succeed. " - Abraham Lincoln

Just opened - Rm2

Created by DC area interior designer, Raji Radhakrishnan, Rm2 is an exclusive online shop for members- "full of stylish pieces for the finishing touch in every room."  I've had the pleasure of visiting Raji's home and can tell you first hand she has an impeccable eye.  Above is her incredibly swank black library with the gilded clay urns which are now available on Rm2.

Raji's motto for Rm2 is Love. Shop. Decorate. Happy! Be sure to check it out.

Designer Nam Dang-Mitchell's Luscious Blog

Canadian designer Nam Dang-Mitchell has a blog that is as sumptuous and gorgeous to look at as her designs.  Each post is an artful collage of images centered around a theme.  Do treat yourself and head over.

Now I need a green velvet sofa just like this one.

One of Nam's designs. Hopefully she'll treat us all to a book someday.

Eye Candy: Sight Line

There's alot to be said for the impact of a sight line from one room to the next.  The view into designer Nancy Boszhardt's dining room is perfection.  It makes me want to venture in and sit in that wing chair with the incredibly gorgeous turned legs.

Is there a sight line in your home you particularly like?

Georgetown Christmas Inspiration

How lucky was I to park near this row house with the Major Award - fragile frageeley leg lamp ala Christmas Story! I should go back at night and photograph it, shouldn't I? For the rest of the post, there's more conventional inspiration.  If you're really busy and haven't had a chance to decorate yet, consider the impact of a single large snowflake as shown in the last two images.  Happy Monday.

Christy Ford's Christmas Style

Last year when the Washington Post ran a feature on designer Christy Ford's (of And George and The Scout Guide) Holiday decorating I made a mental note to post about it this year.  Hope you enjoy it.  Have a great weekend!   (photography by John McDonnell, more images here)

Giveaway - Artist Tina Steele Lindsey

I wanted to make sure you didn't miss the giveaway from artist Tina Steel Lindsey.  I really admire her work and have shared just a small bit of her creative efforts in this post. The giveaway is a choice of either a small original work of hers OR some new art supplies for you to create with, because as Tina writes "everyone is an artist, they just don't know it!"  Although I know, if I'm lucky enough to win, I'm choosing a work of hers!   Head here to enter, you have until midnight December 14th.
