Crewel is Good

At the very end of our trip we had an unexpected bonus day and night in Dublin - thus the purchase of Irish Interiors.

Completely fell for the cover featuring the fabric, Eden by Voyage.

Above - Bloom lamp shade from Anthropologie

Below - Ikea's Alfhild Fagel shade - recently featured in House Beautiful

A suzani fabric from Lewis & Sharon Textile - at a very reasonable price (thank you Style Court for the info)

Brunschwig & Fils Dzhambul

Pillow from HGTV's Dream Home '08

The only crewel I have in my house...so far. I purchased this long, lumbar pillow 3 years ago from a design store going out of business in Lambertville, NJ for only $30!! Can't remember the fabric's name - I think they said it was Cowan & Tout or Brunschwig & Fils. And to think I passed up the chance to buy a second one that day!

I'm loving the crewel look too! I don't have anything in my decor like this - but I do love it. I remember in the 1970s crewel was a hip and groovy thing, man!! lol
Be a sweetie and you're a fantastic photographer!

The Brunschwig is divine, isn't it?

Oooh, at least you snagged one of those pillows! Crewel is typically very pricey, especially a Cowtan or Brunschwig & Fils! fabric!

Lovely post.

Crewel, oh I mean you are so cruel to post such stunning works. Drawn to anything stitched.

I have to say that yours is my favourite of all the crewel pieces you showed! At least you snagged one for that price! :-)

Such a pretty magazine cover. Just in case any one is interested, the blue and green suzani-like swatch is a look-a-like from Lewis Sheron (www.lsfabrics.com) not actually the Brunschwig. The "inspired by" fabric is a fraction of the cost. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the comments. Style Court - thanks for this info on lsfabrics - I will add that into the post. A fraction of the cost is good news! Michele

I love that first chair. I've seen it around on magazine and it was love at first sight.

Which is to show you that love can be crewel. (easy, I know)
