First of all, a huge thank you to my friend Anne for inviting me to come along and share in the tickets her client gave her. Here we are, ninth row back from the floor - amazing seats! (thanks for bringing your camera Gretchen!)
- Paul at the piano singing The Long and Winding Road
- Rocking out to Band on the Run
- The addition of Michelle My Belle to the play list - even if I wasn't the Michelle it was intended for!
- The huge surprise of shooting flames and fireworks during Live and Let Die
- An entire stadium singing Hey Jude
- Two encores, with four songs each, including just Paul with his guitar singing Yesterday.
- Watching 40 and 50+ year old men and woman grab every piece of confetti that shot out of a cannon as a souvenir - and being one of them!
To add to all of that, it seemed like Paul was really happy to be in Washington DC. He referenced the Beatles first U.S. performance in DC in '64 but that then they could barely hear themselves above the screaming girls. So of course, every woman in the stadium started screaming! Along with being an amazing singer and performer, Paul is charming, gracious and full of incredible energy. He gave his all to us, performing for almost 3 hours! The last two lines he sung of the night:
And, in the end, the love you take Is equal to the love you make.

Now that is a life experience to be cherished! I hope, hope, hope he tours Australia. Lee :)
Tim and the kids and I were right across the aisle from you -- sorry we didn't get the chance to rock out together! What other performer could unite two Baby Boomers and their teenage kids, 15 and 17. All four of us sang along and danced in the aisles. Thanks Paul--it was priceless!
Sounds like a wonderful, magical experience Michele. I am so glad you got to see him. My mother is ga-ga for Sir Paul - this would be her life dream. Heck, I would love it too!
I am so impressed he played for 3h. I saw Springsteen a few years ago with the E Street band and he played for 3.5h (here!) and I think it was the best concert of my life, so far!
Green with jealousy
yes I too have turned a rather lovely (if I say so myself!!) shade of envy green! How lucky you are to have lived that!
Oh my gosh...lucky you! Just reading your post brought me back in time. Glad you had such a magical and memorable evening. That last line was singing itself out of my laptop!

What a perfect event! You are so lucky to have been able to attend.
Oh, I still have such a crush on him!
What a magical mystery tour that took away the years! Music is a great thing. It transforms you through time and space. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Just came over from Yansy's blog and Congratulations for winning her giveaway.
You have a lovely blog.
What a magical concert that would have been, seeing Paul McCartney in concert.
Enjoy your week
Hugs

I always love when the entire audience sings together at a concert but it must have been a sublime experience listening to it at his. SO cool! Love that last line, so true isn't it?
I had the extreme pleasure of seeing Paul in concert on his last American tour. There is nothing like being in his presence and the goosebumps you feel hearing a Beatle singing a Beatle song. Long live Sir Paul. Twyla
I have to totally agree about a PM concert. I don't even want to TRY to top it! ....Ever!The best, by far, of my life! What a pleasure to see such a star of his magnitude with nary a bit of an ego. he was as pleasant as I knew he would be. Totally worthy of the title "Sir."
I am just discovering your blog. Fun!!

we got to see him in Montreal years ago (Linda was still in the band)... amazing night, never to be forgotten...
