Cozy & Warm in Charleston

Ever since my first visit to Charleston last spring, I occasionally check out the historic properties for sale South of Broad. One can imagine, right...? Here's a collection of cozy interiors. Isn't this double fireplace incredible? All images from Carriage Properties.

Love the classic, elegant feel of this room above paired with the comfortable, lived-in look of the furniture. The large bust on the tall boy really sets the tone of this room.

I think this is a well done kitchen with the dark wood cabinets contrasted with all the white painted windows. My favorite is the dark wood finish of the far countertop. Hope you're having a great week and it's not too crazy w/all the Holiday preparations.

Charleston is my dream retirement city! And I once took a poll-where you should live- and the answer was Charleston. :-)

Love these interiors!!

We stayed in Charleston last Christmas and had such a wonderful time we are going back this year. What a beautiful home, what a fantastic town!

I LOVE the butcher's block counter top in the kitchen. It's always nice to see a departure from granite :)

Have a wonderful day!

We adore Charleston -- what a wonderful city to visit anytime! And one of my favorite designers -- Amelia Handegan lives there! So far -- I've yet to see a great blogger cover her work -- although many of her rooms (perhaps one or two of the ones you featured may be her design?) are favorites from magazines like the still-lamented Southern Accents!

The wood paneled room is to die for. What is the asking price of the house? I might have to move again. Hah. Merry merry.

Ah, this town is on my list of places to visit. Love the tall french doors in what I assume is the living room/parlor? Extreme elegance...Janell

I love Charleston! I could seriously live there. Visited with my girlfriends several years ago and went on the historical home tours. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Every room is fantastic. --Delores

I went to College there-when I graduated and moved back here I cried! I visit all of my friends who are still there yearly (if not more) and STILL cry when I leave! If you ever want good tips let me know! Happy Holidays! -Amy (who taught the cut greens seminar @ The Pear Tree Cottage)

speaking of Amelia Handegan, the fourth room from the top does look a bit familiar, or at least the mirror and windows ... http://www.southernaccents.com/decorating/style-design/five-favorite-amelia-handegan-rooms-00400000050901/page2.html

Oh my homeland! I love Charleston. It's an amazing place. Luckily I only live a few hours away. It's like a different world there.

Everything looks near perfect-why could they possibly be leaving. Charleston was once a yearly destination for me and always beautiful. This time of year can be magical too-best it retains the authentic feel and though it can be flooded with people somehow you can get lost there. Love these images. la

Thanks for the tour. The images are wonderful.

Last spring I visited Charleston during one of the home and garden tours. Oh my, the homes were fabulous.

The double fireplace IS incredible, but the small, cozy room with only one fireplace is pretty close to perfect!
