Room Envy: Light & Dark

Love the contrast here in this bedroom designed by Sara Scaglione - even though it's dark and light the room still feels quiet and relaxed. Sara also happens to be the owner of Shabby Slips in Austin and Houston.

Hope you're having a great week - TGIt' almost F! Is it too soon to say that on a Wednesday?

I feel that my life is all about "light and dark" - I am drawn to the dark mysterious types and my husband tells me I am all about "light" - Our twins represent the sun and the moon, one wears light, the other dark so to have a home that reflects that is inspiring me that they truly can live happily ever after.

Love that bed and that striped chair! My last name sounds a lot like the word the Italians have for "light and dark contrasts":Chiaroscuro.

Michelle,
These are my favorite colours for a bedroom! This is so cozy when you lighten the lamps in the evening!
Love that picture! Thank you.

I have always been drawn to light and dark rooms like the one you featured. I have in my inspiration file a similar bedroom torn from a magazine at least 5 years ago. Chocolate brown walls, white everything else. It's calm, serene and restful.

the dark walls keep the fabrics from being too feminine...smiles.

I am a big "light + dark" girl. I've seen so many images showcasing strong contrasts but this is by far one of the best - livable, cozy and stylish. Very nice! Marija

Very, very pretty. I've used this same concept a lot in my house with brown and white. Love it.
