Have you ever seen framed, colored intaglios? I recently saw them for the first time in the dining room of The Jefferson. Makes me wonder - are these colored plaster, Coral or Carnelian?
These two images are from a French blog here - the first image is a collection of both cameo and itaglios. These were noted as coming from the collection of the late Yves Saint Laurent.
Have you seen intaglios that aren't the typical white?

I'm so glad you are writing about this! I had just bought one at an estate sale when that first photo of them framed was printed. I tried to do a little research but came up with nothing. I guess they are some kind of wax seals?.... The color is so different. If anyone can get to the bottom of this you can.
FYI- I have since turned mine into a cuff bracelet that will be up on my jewelry website this week.
I have never seen these pieces that I know of. I could have seen them and thought they were cameos. Very interesting. I hope that you can find out and share. I am curious to find out more about them. They are beautiful, and I love the colors.
Have a nice day.

It really looks elegant. Wish I can have something like that at home.
I have actually not seen these yet. Love the evolution of the things we love.
I love the cameos from YSL's collection. What I wouldn't do to get my hands on one of those! :)
they are wonderful. it's even nice we don't know from what they are made, it makes us dream :-)
mmmm the YSL sales, i look once a week at least at the catalogues.
Yes. I have ones just like that. They were my very first antique purchase over 20 years ago.
I thought you might like to see what mine looks like --

cameos framed - what a clever idea - my grandmother's cameo that i now own has a small loop at the top so i hang it on necklace - so much more 21st c than pinned on a dress -
