Here it is against the bare wall. I envision a large scale mirror behind it. This metal console table is a favorite of mine but I don't think it works against the dark brown walls or with the fixture. I think this light fixture would look better sitting atop of a raw or worn wood console that is just a bit taller.
Here's my dining room a month ago. The $40 flea market tremeau mirror has found a better home in my living room and I never really cared for the sconces here. I did love the contrast of the concrete french planter against the walls though.
Here's the room this past summer. Love this mirror but it didn't seem tall enough and it has also found a better place in my house. (other pics of my dining room here)

So, your honest opinions of my light fixture? Oh, did I mention that my kids and husband think it's weird.
(p.s. if anybody has any ideas on the maker of this light, I'd love to hear about that too. Was it custom or mass produced?)

I agree with everything you said and I love the light fixture you bought. Honestly love it!
Love it. You must like circles, see how it echos the circles on the wall sconces in the one picture?
I actuallly love this piece and would have bought it as well. I don't think the current table it is on will work but I would like to see it in front of a mirror and maybe other matching gold colored objects. Maybe then the the current table color will fade away a bit. Nice find. I am a new blogger but have been following you before I knew how to leave comments. I am extending an invitation to my blog when you have a chance. Happy Holidays,
CareyAnn
I think it's interesting -something you would see in a design mag.
What did you think of the G-town flea market?

Michele,
It is seriously stunning! I love the simple yet elaborate style. Your find the greatest pieces!
Hope that you week is full of festive fun.

I think its fun, but I liked the Trumeau and the leaf sconces.
Best,
Liz
Your light fixture is unique! I have never seen another like it and that is what is most intreiguing. Great eye and great treasure!
I side with the husband and kids...
And $130.00 for that seems unduly expensive.
I love the light fixture. I am just throwing this out...maybe it would look good on a tray...black or bronze...and maybe add some height under the tray with some large books? I love the fact that there will be a mirror to reflect it! Good luch and look forward to seeing how you style it!
Husband and kids...what do they know??? Your fixture is really interesting. You loved it at first sight, so you just need to play with it a bit and you'll find the perfect spot for it. I think a nice hand woven runner underneath would be nice--warm and soften up the metal look a bit. It's great.
Best,
Susan
Oh I love happy mistakes. I think it is stunning!
I think it is hip and modern. Go for it! Very cool. Ignore the kids and the hubby.
I like it. I like it a lot!
You didn't make a mistake at all. I believe that if you are drawn to an object, sometimes without even knowing why, there is a reason for it. And sometimes other household members may think it weird, but surround yourself with things you love, I say! p.s. I like it too!
Michele, I'm with you - great find! It has the creative juices flowing and I'll send some ideas. Next time take me to the flea market with you! Roxanne
Such a unique piece - unpredictible (which is why the fam is confused) and totally one of a kind. Even better that you found it at a fle market!! Bravo!
Love it. Simply love it. It's a great find.
Great photos, Wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Best wishes. Leovi.
The wonderful thing about a $130 light fixture like yours is that it needn't be a permanent part of the room's decor. I'm not saying that because I don't care for the fixture--I actually like it a lot, and I think it will be improved--as you write--with new sleeves (and please add a dimmer to it). You have many lovely and interesting things, why not rotate them when the fancy strikes you? A little "weirdness" ain't such a bad thing, in my view, at least when everyone relaxes and understands that it is only a lamp (and a very nice one) after all.
no clue about the fixture's origins, but it sure is purty! and unique, too- good buy!
You scored Michele.
I love the idea of a more rustic console paired with the more modern light fixture.
You have a great eye. Don't doubt yourself!
I think your husband and kids will come around once
I want to wish you and your family a Happy Holiday and a Healthy and Joyous New Year!

I love it! Plus it is a piece I'm sure you will never or very rarely ever see in another home which for me is such a bonus and really makes it special. And on top of all that - I love the way it looks!
