DC's Barbara Franceski in Casa Claudia

DC based designer, Barbara Franceski's home is featured this month in Portugal's Casa Claudia. I'm always interested in seeing designer's own homes and Barbara's is a wonderful mix of classic pieces from a number of periods, artfully mixed with unique and interesting details. Case in point, the fabulous lucite stool on casters. (Photo credit for all images: Angie Seckinger)

Be sure to click on the above pic so you can see a larger image of the wall treatment. Nailheads similar to those on the living room ottoman appear in the dining room, giving definition to the walls.
Barbara's office - the desk is scripted with Italian. Bella!
A gorgeous canopied bed and a mix of beautiful fabric patterns - love this!
Finally, a beautiful and hip bathroom. To see more of Barbara's work, check out my DC Designer Series feature on her here.

What a spectacularly beautiful home. Love the mix as well - classic yet modern in its sensibilities and never boring. The bedroom is indeed incredible!!

My goodness! How many "stand-out" pieces can you put in one corner!? The antiqued mirrored screen, tufted chair, lucite and crystal lamp just put me over the edge!

Also LOVE the white dog head-- fabulous! Thanks for sharing these lovely images!

Oh My! Honestly loved only modern design for the longest time... new job as a designer in luxury hospitality taught me to appreciate a more traditional style.

The combination of both gives me chills. I love this, thank you so much for posting!

Phoebe Howard did a spectacular nail head trim on green velvet fabric in her beautiful store in Charlotte. You can see it on our Mrs. Howard post from last summer, or her website.

Hi Michele, Wow so much to love! I want that mirrored screen, the crystal lamp and those gorgeous dining chairs. Also love that office - somehow it manages to be serene and have punch at the same time! I'd love you to viwsit my new blog (and if you like it add me to your bloglist!). How lovely!! Thanks for your note a while ago - I meant to pop over sooner. Congrats on the 10 lbs. That is amazing! I am not sure where it came from, however, as you did not have much to spare in the first place. I used to be cute and thin but living with a great cook is a challenge. But I am back into the running shoes again.

I will let you know if we make it to DC. I am offering to present a paper at a conference there but my cousin is getting married out east the same weekend, so I have to decide in the next couple of weeks what I'm doing. And my boss is being so stingy with funds, but we have a whole team of PhD types, all of whom want to travel to conferences, so I guess I can understand he can't let everyone travel every year. Will let you know!

Have a great new year. xo Terri

Wow! Thse pictures are amazing! I also love to be able to see what designers do in their own homes. I can take away inspirations and use that to fit how I live. And I also love mixing classic with modern! What a great pairing.
