"Recent" Yard Sale Finds: DIY-AF!

You'll notice recent was in quotation marks - as in it depends what you consider to be recent. I'm guessing the local church's Fall Bazaar may not count...

One of my goals this year is to do more DIY-AF, aka Do It Yourself And Finish. The two chinese style little tables were purchased for $2. My sense is there used to be three that stacked on each other but I've glued the two together to make a small table. Next step: paint them a glossy white.
This chair was given to me for free as they closed-out the sale. It's going to be recovered in left-over Schumacher's Fern Tree.

My 2011 goal - finish these and post about it! (oh, and the dresser drawers I bought a while back too)

It's so difficult to muster the energy and dedication to finish a project! I get to about 80%, lose interest, and I have to beat myself up to put on the finishing touches ... did this just last week with the kitchen backsplash. Whined profusely every trip up and down the basement stairs to the wet saw in the garage to make those final cuts. We should start a support group.

I don't have a DIY bone in my body, but watching everyone out there making things, makes me feel like its possible. I want to paint my dining room chairs in a high gloss finish. I'm afraid I'll ruin them. Perhaps this should not be my first project. Maybe I'll stick to the kitchen and the garden.
Best,
Liz

Funny, dovecote decor, me either! I love having my bevy of contractors do my projects for me. I have a problem finishing DIY as well and then I get all upset with myself. I'm having an old dresser of my grandmothers painted for a Showhouse bedroom, but I'm taking it in to a refinisher! I tend to like perfection and my painting is far from perfect! Can't wait to see your projects!

I am so glad to know I am not the only one with a "finishing" problem. I like to think that it is our insanely creative minds constantly working that cause this unfortunate side-effect. I'm in for the support group!

Though time-consuming, the end product will prove to be gorgeous. Love the detail on the chair.

Those are great finds, Michele. I hear you on the subject of DIY. My excuse is that I'm waiting until spring when I can paint furniture outdoors.

Totally can't wait to see the afters! Fabulous finds at incredible prices and I totally know what you mean about unfinished projects...you should just see my basement! Agree with Hartwood Roses...there needs to be a support group.
Me: Hi, my name is Danielle and I have too many uncompleted projects. Group: Good morning Danielle! How has this infringed on your life?
Me: I can't seem to control myself, my basement looks like a warehouse and it is supposed to be a play area for my son.
Group: We understand, so what kind of goodies do you have...can we come over to see? ;)
