Eye Candy: Federal Style

Alan de la Vigne's restored 1830's Federal style home in Port Hope, Ontario was featured in Canadian House and Home's February 2010 issue. Now you can also watch a 5 minute video tour of his gorgeous home. After you recover from the fact that this daper gentleman is 81 years old and looks hardly over 60, you'll be treated to:
- an all white painted open staircase filled with light
- antiques in every room, including a 1712 French armoire and 17c Italian table
- beautiful moldings and
- a southern-style draped porch with exterior curtains made from a very thrifty material

To see the house tour, go to House & Home Online TV HERE.

I am in love with this home. Not only are the furnishing beautiful, the silver and the lamps are gorgeous too.
Can't believe that the owner is 81. He is as well preserved as the home.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece.

wow - that is one chic 81 year old! His home is gorgeous - sure beats the wood panelled basement my 83 yr old dad spends his time in! :)

Michele I loved his house when I first saw the spread. His outdoor porches with their drapes melted my heart. Alan is a fascinating man and it's shocking that he will be 81. Definitely a man whose mother lead him on the right career path for what he had a natural talent to do. Wonderful man, wonderful home. Thanks for posting!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog to let me know about the video of this house. I didn't know about it!

I walked by in the summer and saw it was up for sale. I can't wait to see what he does with his next one!

81, hardly looks 60, and taste as modern and chic as any 25 year old. And, the taste not to gut his beautiful old house, as too many youngsters are now doing, but use it as an elegant background for his terrific mix. Thanks for bringing to our attention.

Why American men should boycott American women

I am an American man, and I have decided to boycott American women. In a nutshell, American women are the most likely to cheat on you, to divorce you, to get fat, to steal half of your money in the divorce courts, don’t know how to cook or clean, don’t want to have children, etc. Therefore, what intelligent man would want to get involved with American women?

American women are generally immature, selfish, extremely arrogant and self-centered, mentally unstable, irresponsible, and highly unchaste. The behavior of most American women is utterly disgusting, to say the least.

This blog is my attempt to explain why I feel American women are inferior to foreign women (non-American women), and why American men should boycott American women, and date/marry only foreign (non-American) women.

I SO thought of you when my House and Home arrived a couple of days ago....and all of your back issues! Loved your post of all of your Scott's finds. It is amazing how we all see different things!
