In Lieu of Southern Accents: This Charleston Home

I should have titled this post In Lieu of Taxes...as instead of completing my tax return I've been searching Charleston homes. However, it was very exciting to come across this home for sale and to recognize the kitchen that appeared in Southern Accents Nov/Dec 2004. I've always loved this space and have included it in posts about fireplaces in kitchens.
Does anyone know who the designer is? Update: Thanks to Midwest Snob and Kansas Farmhouse for letting me know the Southern Accents issue date and that the designers are husband and wife architects Mark and Melissa Marescu.
Would love to write more about my thoughts on this beautiful home but my taxes await...

Fabulous house! Do you think it could be Amelia Handegan, or maybe it's not finished enough to be hers. Similar though. I love Charleston houses!

Couldn't be more to my taste if I'd done it myself (although better than if I had)

Oh, how elegant. I love the black lamp shades and I too have been finding lots of distraction of lieu of taxes. It does seem much more interesting.

the kitchen pleasantly surprised me as less-traditional in an other-wise traditional-style home. and love those black painted interior doors...a lot of wonderful touches in this place...

and, as a tax widow, I say 'yay' for the end of tax season

This house was featured in the November/December 2004 issue and was designed by the husband and wife architects Mark and Melissa Maresca as their personal residence.

I posted a picture of this kitchen on my blog some time ago and had been thinking about it recently. I was so drawn to this kitchen that I was dying to see the rest of the house. The only other picture I could come up with was of the master bedroom. Thank you so much for this post. The rest of the house is just as fantastic as the kitchen. This home was designed by Mark and Melissa Maresca. I believe this is their personal home.

In "real life" I'm a CPA so I feel your pain!

I am always drawn to Charleston homes. I think the distinct architecture style combined with a European/Southern interior is just so......unique.

Off to check out the rest of the house!

The arched doorways are splendid! The interiors are styled beautifully too.

That house could be in a magazine today. So classic and the black doors....! Makes me want them all the more.....

It is curious that the window sash are painted dark on the interior but light on the exterior. But a charming house inside and out. With the prices of real estate in a slump around most of the country, it is interesting to see that the market is quite strong in historic Charleston. __ The Devoted Classicist, http://tdclassicist.blogspot.com

Love how the rooms relate to each other. The dark ceiling in the kitchen is fabulous. Okay, the kitchen is fabulous.

Thank you and more, please! I've been in withdrawal ever since they stopped publication of Southern Accents. What were they? Crazy?
Surely, someone could resusitate it?

Does anyone know whether that is dark brown or black paint in the front hall, kitchen ceiling and the upstairs drawing room in the last picture?
