Eye Candy: Rustic & Refined

To me, both these interiors capture a perfect balance of a rustic and refined. They're from Dream Homes: 100 Inspirational Interiors by Andreas von Einsiedel and Johanna Thornycroft. I refer to it as the "book that keeps on giving." Even if you've looked through it a hundred times, if you pick it up a few months later, you'll see something new. 2. The first photograph feels very authentic, warm, lived in and unpretentious. Real country living!

  4. Really lovely. But can you image the challenge of working in a stone structure? No hanging art on the walls, kids. And forget about installing easy window treatments. Also, not the the ceiling (in the 2nd pic) is quite low, so all the furniture in the room is a bit short. Well done, designer!

Also, that rudimentary mantle is giving me the fever.
