Georgetown Wreath Inspiration

December 2009 I took pics of some of the decorations in Georgetown and proceeded to misplace them on my hard drive for 2 years. They've been found!
This simple, wide chartreuse ribbon accents a classic boxwood wreath. Magnolia leaves accent the evergreen swag.
Love the gesture of this diminutive wreath balancing the brass knocker on the other door, and wow, those door knobs!
Two matching swags are perfect for this double door. Adore the X motif in the window.

Long blue ribbons and matching bulbs are elegant and pretty.

Our tree Christmas Eve 2009. The only thing pictured here, that is still in this room, is the seagrass rug. My favorite part; the tinfoil star my husband and I made for our first Christmas together in 1986. It's a bit small in scale as our apartment tree was only 3 ft high then.

You know I just might have decided on a swag this year instead of a wreath! Thank you for this post. Understated is always so elegant and a wonderful welcome.
In my neck of the woods it sometimes appears that there is a competition going on for the biggest gobbledygook display from the local hobby store!
The entry doors in your neck of the woods are always so gorgeous. I love when you post about them!
Have a wonderful holiday season!

so glad you found them! I love the doors in Georgetown and think they're even lovelier decked with wreaths. That boxwood on the black door with the brass kills me, perfection!

Oh how I adore a great entrances, and these found images are fabulous! And your story of the foil star on your tree, priceless. I hold treasures like that close to my heart, as do you both.

Two comments: I will be in DC next week-end and plan to spend a day shopping in Georgetown. I hope to see some beautiful wreaths. One of my most prized possessions is the little angel I bought for $1.00 that my family still uses on top of our tree. It is 39 years old.

And, love the tin foil star. Hope you still have it!

I love the simplicity of the first doorway. I think that is the route I will go when ever it is that I get my self in gear. The star is darling and I have quite a few sentimental decorations that seem to take a special spot every year even if they are not magazine worthy.

Ah, simple and traditional equals class. I'm so pleased to have had this trip back in time to visit Georgetown.

i think i like the 'hangie' ones with balls.

i have been looking for ideas for the shop for a week now...
and the 'hangie' wreath will be what i do.

i am sure that is not the correct or technical name for that style of wreath.

please excuse me for that.
