A while back I bought 4 vintage sconces for $40 a piece from Plaire, a terrific esty seller. Two have been hard wired for our bathroom reno and these two (with new cords) are now adding some much needed accent lighting in my dining/library room. Originally I thought of hanging them but now I like them just on the mantel.
A little bit of brasso and windex did the job (or enough before it got too tiring to keep polishing!)

These make such a lovely statement on your mantel. I love them!!
ReplyDeleteI'm an old-school Army brat, and I remember Daddy having to use Brasso on his belt buckle. I'll bet your hands were good and black after you finished polishing these.
Completely amazing !!!! clever girl !!! what a find!!
ReplyDeletethey look fabulous! Hmm -i still think I'd like to see them higher up, even with the art, but that would probably be hard to do as it's a brick wall. Either way they look great!
ReplyDeletemore peaks into that gorgeous room please! Michele, it's beautiful! And you totally scored with those sconces. They look lovely. Can't wait to see the bathroom too!
ReplyDeletePerfect! Don't you love Etsy?
ReplyDeleteNice. Love the brass. Great size too.
ReplyDeleteI prefer it hung. It gives its full drama and effect. This piece is an inspiration.
