I Like This: Danish Modern w/a Twist

While reading Katie Denham's most recent post on the 2012 San Francisco Designer Showcase, I came across last years feature on the master bedroom by designer Matt Murphy. Among the many things that caught my eye was this bow front bureau. To me it's danish modern with a twist and I really like it. More from Katiedid here.

Oh, and on a side note, I think this image has convinced me to do something I've been thinking about for years - paint my baseboards the same color as the walls. However, I won't do that until the following on-going projects are finished:

- painting my kitchen ceiling and floor

- our basement renovation. It just passed the insulation inspection and it's time for drywall. I really need to post on that but first have to solve my ongoing computer and camera issues (long story)

Hope you're having a great week. It's almost Friday!

  1. The entire vignette is nice but I would kill for that bowfront dresser.

  3. Great post - LOVE that bureau! Yes, I agree with you about the merging of colour. I live in a house that dates back to 1822, and I love painting the skirting the same colour as the walls - it's a very English Georgian idea too. If you ever see some of the old restored Georgian terrace houses in the older parts of London, they are often like this - beautiful. Paula x

  7. Love it, and love the total vignette. I haven't had the courage to paint any of my MCM stuff yet....

  8. Hi Michele - I love Scandinavian modern as well, particularly from Denmark.

I still want to have you over for coffee....have been busy getting new container ready for the shop. Almost done with that, whew!

Remind me to show you our newly renovated basement. I painted all the trims the same color as the walls. We did the whole basement reno on a budget....all the tiles from Home Depot :-) I think it looks nice, but you be the judge when we have coffee.

    Talk to you soon, Loi

  10. The dresser is gorgeous. And I covet the little modernist painting on it.

Your kitchen floor is painted? That's the plan for my new kitchen (someday) and perhaps the bathrooms so I'm eager to see it.

  13. There is such energy in this welcoming area. The painting seems to be so beautifully anchored in the furniture and all items are subdued and the focus taken back to the art.
    It is the star

Thanks for sharing this beautful post
