I'd like a marble sink like this. I'm assuming this is custom. Has anyone ever had one like this made for them? (From the home of designer Christina Murphy, New York Social Diary here, photography by Jeff Hirsch)
That's a beautiful sink. I don't have one, but (like a lot of people) have a white marble countertop and a standard porcelain sink. The marble has staining around the edge and the faucets from minerals in the water. Have had it for about 10 years and not sure I'd go with marble again around the sink. Although, the stone sealing products have probably improved over the past 10 years.
any stone yard can do this for you and waterworks supplies them. They're not cheap (esp at waterworks) but they're less than you might think depending on the stone and how it's made (one thick slab or pieced & glued together)
Oh dearest Michele, First of all I want to thank you for your comment on my latest blogpost! Oh yes I love this sink you showed us today! We frequently have to order a made to measure marble sink for our clients. I just love marble! I wish you a wonderful weekend Michele! Hugs, Greet PS I wished I could follow your blog by email!
Fabulous sink- I'll take one too, thank you! The whole bath is wonderful (except for the seat up on the toilet- can't believe no one caught that;)-love the tile around the tub.
If you find out, will you share? I would love to know since we have all the fixtures ripped out of our guest bathroom for a re-do and this actually looks like it would fit perfectly in the space we have.
I like that marble sink a lot more than those silly bowl-on-the-table sinks they are making these days. That's such a fad. Things are 'classic' for a reason; they look good. Looking good never goes out of style.
That is one gorgeous sink! Marble sinks truly add a distinctive note of elegance and sophistication to a bathroom. Clearly, there’s no room for debris, and falling hair or pea sized toothpaste on this gorgeous sink. This type, however, is very porous, which means it easily picks up dirt and stains. To clean marble sinks, avoid cleaners which contain acids because it is vulnerable to damage.
So would I! Actually, I'll settle for the whole bathroom.
ReplyDeleteThere is something special about marble and custom.
ReplyDeleteLove the old world glam of this bathroom~

I love that sink. I would assume its custom. Maybe a really good granite or tile place could put that together for you?
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...ME TOO!!!!

ReplyDeleteI imagine this would be the same process as making a soapstone sink ... Very cool!

ReplyDeleteLovely sink, although a bit too modern for me. Wish she'd put the toilet lid down before taking the snap!
ReplyDeleteI like the fact that it is off-centered so there is room on one side for all the items one needs on a vanity. Really pretty.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree it is beautiful

So gorgeous. I've had this done out of limestone before. A good granite/marble fabricator can do them. Love the calacatta.

ReplyDeleteLove the simplicity and the purity of this sink! Just gorgeous. Would love to know how much it would cost to make.
