Georgetown Christmas Inspiration

How lucky was I to park near this row house with the Major Award - fragile frageeley leg lamp ala Christmas Story! I should go back at night and photograph it, shouldn't I? For the rest of the post, there's more conventional inspiration.  If you're really busy and haven't had a chance to decorate yet, consider the impact of a single large snowflake as shown in the last two images.  Happy Monday.

So many ideas. I would love a magnolia leaf wreath. I would not want the leg lamp but I certainly get a chuckle out of seeing it.

I love walking through these rowhouses in Georgetown! The simpler the decoration the better I feel. Very charming.

I miss Georgetown at Christmas! I also hung my reef on the front door, had a live Christmas tree in our little walled garden. I so enjoyed walking the streets all decked out for the holidays

Thanks for sharing these! I love a simple, elegant wreath on the door for the holidays... What better way to welcome guests AND give yourself a little Christmas spirit every time you arrive home? The berry wreaths are my favorite...but if short on time, a simple snowflake in the window would do just fine...So dainty & elegant on its own.

Um, I think that's Italian, right?!? I heard that someone bought the house in Indiana where the movie was filmed and created a Christmas Story museum....with The Lamp available for sale. I absolutely love that someone in Georgetown has it displayed prominently. It makes all the other decorations seem so staid. Lovely, but rather expected.
