The 43rd annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House opens today and runs through June 11th. Yesterday I was scheduled to attend Press Day but the tragic Amtrak accident prevented travel up to NYC from here in DC. My friend Jennifer, of DC by Design, attended on Tuesday and she posted wonderful sneak peeks on her blog today.
The beautiful living room above (designed by Mariette Himes Gomez with photography by Timothy Bell) isn't from the current show house but part of the amazing compendium 40 Years of Fabulous Kips Bay Decorator Show House: The Kips Bay Decorator Show House by Steven Stolman. The book is divided into sections (The Traditionalists, Modernists, Showmen, Classicists, Exquisites, Provocateurs, Newcombers, and Legends) so there's something for everyone in this look-back at the best of Kips Bay!

I know I cant wait to get my hands on this!
I go every year and plan to purchase the book. The derailment in Philly was caused because of excessive speed, that 90 degree curve has a speed limit of 50... The train was speeding at 106 miles per hour. So tragic.
Hope you get to attend the show; such a design tradition. xo Leslie
Michele one day I will attend this most famous of all interior design and benefit show houses!! Stolman's book looks amazing!

Oh no -well that will throw a kink in your plans! Sorry you weren't able to make it but glad you're OK!
Michele thank you so much for the mention! Such a a bummer you could't make it up, but glad everyone is safe! We actually passed that train on the way back to DC, about 20 minutes before it crashed, weird.
