Carrier and Company Positively Chic Interiors

Add this to the list of interior design books that, when you open up the packaging and pull it out, you find the closest chair to you and start devouring it, page by page.   I was very excited to receive my preview copy of Carrier and Company: Positively Chic Interiors from Vendome Press - it's 247 glossy pages are full of beautiful designs with take-aways at every turn.  Organized into six sections (Timelessness, Tailored Refinement, Country Charm, Luxuriously Modern, A Nod to Tradition and Bohemian Glamour), there's inspiration for everyone.   One of my favorites is this gorgeous Hamptons living room where the client's directive was to "create a new version of an American house."  While I enjoy designs that are "english country" or "french chic" as much as the next person, it's quite appealing to page through a book filled with homes that have a strong American design aesthetic.

In this post, I'm showing you pics I've taken to give you a sense of just how many double-page spreads there are - which I love seeing!

A classic white kitchen.  Notice the runner is seagrass, which I think is a great choice with it's waxy finish that is resistant to staining.

Another beautiful living room with a floor plan that includes separate fireplace seating.

Have a traditional dining room set?  Take it up a notch by lightening the wood of the chairs.

If you're looking for the next great design book to add to your collection, put Carrier and Company:Positively Chic Interiors by Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller at the top of your list!

  1. yes I really loved this book too! Such great style -really 'chic' is appropriate here.
On that subject -we have an antique rug in our (newly remodeled) kitchen and it's great - hides spills, etc. It's already beaten up to heck so a few more stains and wear and tear won't hurt it. It looks GREAT! Love rugs in kitchens. Now - baths...not so much!
