Yesterday I had a chance to visit the 2015 Southern Living Idea House outside of Charlottesville, VA that was beautifully decorated by Bunny Williams. I'll be doing a number of posts on this perfectly scaled home (no-McMansion here) but thought I'd start off with my first take-way: knotty pine done right is warm and gorgeous as well as stately but not overly formal. Pretty much perfect for this contemporary take on a Virginia farmhouse.
The architect smartly planned ahead for tv placement.

This is spectacular. I completely forgot about this house ... having made a mental note earlier in the year to take my mom and get down there to see it. Thanks for the reminder.
This doesn't look like your run-of-the-mill knotty pine. Looks like antique heart pine. I wonder if it came from Mountain Lumber Company, just north of Charlottesville? Either way, I love it!
I love paneled rooms like this -they're so cozy. In our renovation this past year we did cypress paneling in the bathroom (although we painted ours.... although after seeing it up I was tempted to stain it!).
In my mind, Bunny Williams can do no wrong! I love that her houses always look like homes, where real people live. So gorgeous!
Is knotty pine making a comeback? This looks so cozy and welcoming.
