A huge thanks to
House Beautiful for letting me share this sneak peek of
Mary Douglas Drysdales' transformation of a classic Georgetown rowhouse in their July/August issued devoted to small spaces and how to make the most of each square foot. (all photographs by Bjorn Wallander)
A master at transforming interiors, Mary combined simple moldings, sunny patterns, and antique family heirlooms to create warmth and comfort. Throughout the first floor, subtly striped walls add charm to a narrow space, and the cohesive yellow and white palette make small rooms seem larger.
When extra space is at a premium, beautifully styled shelves can also be practical storage.
Check out these floors awash in a barely-there but still stunning pattern. Row houses tend to be narrow and these floors create an expansive feel.
Love all these charming touches in this bedroom.
Can't wait till my
July/August issue arrives in the mailbox! Hope you have a great weekend, Michele
SOOOOO beautiful! I love her aesthetic so much. Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteReally lovely! I colors in the bedroom are really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe love Mary's style too! Thanks for giving us a sneak peak. As much as she is known for subtle color and yellow, she also has bold, Signature Colors. Look at the Lipstick Plus Pink Faux Linen she used recently for Antiques in Alexandria, for instance. A bold color that works for a small space and with light, pickled flooring as well. Mary is a master of how to use color.
ReplyDeleteamazing subtle pattern on the floor.
ReplyDeleteThese snippets feel so cheery and fresh--I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more when my copy of HB arrives.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, the yellow and white are so fresh and happy. Mary always does an amazing job.
