Could Domino pull a Victoria?

Thank you to We Love Domino for inviting me to do a guest post where I focused on Domino's more conservative side. In the post I also wonder if there might be hope for Domino fans in the story of Victoria Magazine, which folded in 2004 only to return to its base of loyal and patient former subscribers in late 2007. I understand during that 3 year time period Victoria magazine fans found solace on the internet in community forum discussions.

On a design note - isn't this front door amazing? (photography by Paul Costello, Domino Magazine)

Love what you wrote over there, very well said. I hope you are onto something and they will come back- that would be the best!

Love the door! Is it a shutter in front of the door?

I hope that they will reconsider and give such loyal readers their magazine back at some point. Perhaps they just need to regroup.

Sadly, though, Victoria is not even close to what it used to be. I applaud Hoffman Media for trying, but it really lost something in the translation. Southern Lady was always a poor imitation of Victoria (also a Hoffman pub) and now Victoria is a poor imitation of itself.

Great article Michele! We can surely hope!

The door is de'lovely...very bahamian with the louvres for air but cutting out the sun.

Beautiful image! I really hope Domino comes back someday. It has left such a void in the market.

Oh, I hope so! My mother subscribed to Victoria since 1989, and I've always pored over hers. :) I think they'd declined in quality before they folded, and though I've read their most recent issues, they're still not as good. Domino folded for different reasons (I assume the cruddy economy is the main factor), and their quality was consistently high-- and their fan base is solid. I'd say they have an excellent chance of making a comeback after things settle down a bit. :)

Love the little trees in the windows. Where is the PVE art going - it's wonderful and it's you!
