FROM the archives - A post by Ann of Hill Country House reminded me to pick up the current issue of New England Home while I was in Cape Cod. It was full of great homes and this Connecticut house by Boston based designer Charles Spada caught my eye. The green in this library is so refreshing. The article mentioned that this green is the one chosen twenty years earlier when Spada first worked with these clients. (all photography by Bruce Buck, article by Stacy Kuntz)

Love that one dark piece of funiture in the dining area.
Being from New England I can appreciate the New England charm factor! The green on the built ins in so unexpected and adds so much character.. love it! xo
I like the green library. Breaks up the usual dark stained built-ins that are always seen in libraries!
I'm in love with the blush color they have on the dining room walls - I need some blush!
Glorious green, I can never get enough of that color.
I blame it on the avocadoe kitchen and my very own Mother who also loves green.
New England does have such charm, and the south does too-

Love the green and the sweet little dining table!
I just picked this mag up. gorgeous home! So nice on the eyes!
I'm in love with green lately, so you can imagine how happy this picture makes me. Going to check out all the links!
Love the dining room. The green is beautiful, and I especially love the chair.

Those flame stitched chairs are dreamy!
I love the green on the built ins, it seems like such a large color commitment to make, but looks so refreshing and classic!!
Hi Michele! All of those rooms look so FRESH! I have never seen the magazine...but will ask my friends to bring one back from their Nantucket visits.

Hi Michele - thanks for the mention! I loved this house too and really loved the fact that the room had been painted so long ago. It reminds me of some of the traditional homes of my friends' parents - they may have looked dated to me at one time, but as I have gotten older I realize that really they have been classically beautiful for many years.
So glad you found the magazine - isn't it just beautiful!
Michele, I'll take Manhattan - and that green library, too! Green, in all its hues, always looks wonderful with books.
Thanks, too, for sharing info about "New England" mag.

Love this magazine, it features so many great New England designers! Oh and those green bookcases, amazing!!
how great is that green book shelf? what a great idea for a color pop... mmm, i'll be tossing that idea around for the next few days. :)
Nice and inviting without the heaviness. Also gorgeous light in all of these rooms. That library feels so airy despite the green, which in my opinion often 'shrinks' a room & absorbs light.
Thanks for the link - will have a look through.

In love with that green library!
I'm obsessed with these photos. I love that green library! There's nothing like a well decorated space to get your "read" on!
