Charleston Eye Candy: jackpot

I came across image first and had a feeling the rest of the house would be as wonderful. The home is the perfect blend of designer touches and real livability; beauty and function perfectly matched. It's obvious the shelves above aren't styled but in this case, don't you find that's better? Notice the model boat and print above the door and, of course, those amazing gray checkered floors and gray door. (all images via Carriage Properties here)

More patterned floors. Can't tell if that's antiqued mirror or wallpaper behind the shelves.

Love the fabric on the boxy wing chair to the left.

I could get used to this butler's pantry.

This is exactly how I would want to live, beautifully and stylish, but real! Love every picture.

Michele,

A stunning room, elegant yet comfortable. Love the soft color palette with pops of brights, like the butlers pantry!

I hope you will visit my site and let me know what you think of my Autumn decor, so far.....

I love the floors. It looks like the pattern is stained but I can't figure out the silver lines. The great patterned floor in the closet (?) also looks painted.

Great comfortable home.

As a clock collector, I'd love a closer look at the one in the second shot. It looks impressive.

The clock does look amazing. We have a Swedish Mora clock (c. 1820)in our entry way. Same shape - but oyster grey - most of the Swedish clock's I've seen are lighter - grey or beige. Would love to know where this one comes from too.

Lovely! That velvet sofa is the color of the one my ex gave away. I wrote about it in the velvet post. I'm not sure about oyster plates in the laundry, though.

What I like about this home is that it has an aura of piece. Very livable.

Great post!! Really may I say great writing skills! I learned many things from your post. Your room color colors combination is prefect and this combination delights smile and happiness. Thanks for the great post.

I love that bookcase surrounding the door. I know a lot of people say that they'd have a bowling alley or a cinema in their dream house but for me, it would be a library, somewhere I could go and be completely surrounded by books. Preferably without some vulture-like librarian watching my every move. The library from Beauty and the Beast would do me nicely.

That said, I wouldn't want my house to be too big. Far too much to dust and I know that I'd feel like the house was about to swallow me whole. So I'd have to settle for something smaller.

And in the real world, I'm probably going to have to settle for the standard rooms and nothing else. Any property with anything remotely unnecessary is going to have a much higher house valuation than I can manage.

The entire street floors are heritage listed in your house, so there was no option to change the front facade of colors it sound like the house has a delicious personality all of its own floors. I think it is much harder to pull off the minimalist style with warmth and a human softness, and so few people get it right.
