Mauve

Am I right to call this mauve? Not sure, but I very much admire this color study and design by Donald Schermerhorn for the 2009 Kips Bay Decorator Show House.

It's got to have another name. I spent years ridding my house of the 80's mauve! I like plum, and I love the more purple tones in there!
Have a great day.

I'm with the ladies. More of a plum/purple tones. I love it. I'm afraid Mauve is four letter word in my book.

Stop by on Friday to do a little shopping for the holidays at my jewelry open house. 10:00 -6:00.

lovely and fresh, I think. since looking closer at john saladino's use of a lighter version of that color, I have really come to appreciate it.

I love that color, its for me the perfect color between melancholy and romance, dawn and dust....and whatever we call it, it has an understated quality!

I think it is mauve, so Biba! The book Mauve is on my shelf, maybe time to reread, the story of the dye is fascinating.

I would go with plum, violets, for the new shades and several other names come to me, a bit more on the blue side; periwinkle, etc.

I like this particular shade of mauve/plum/violet ..... mmmgorgeous! It looks so rich and romantic with the right shade of brown and matte finished silver accents.

A bit more on the purple side but it is beautiful in this space. Love the art piece in the first image...it pulls it all together perfectly.

Mauve?? No way. It's much prettier than that. Aubergine.

I believe that mauve is more pink. This is more of a plum. I just used this color in a client's living room. Very elegant and soft. It mixed well with an earthy color scheme.

Just after getting married, I had mauve silk curtains made for my rt1987 (ironically 25 years to the day you posted this!) living room and though they were very pretty, I swore I'd never use that color again. But now I call it dusty lilac and used it in a client's bedroom I just posted!
