Back from Scotland!

We're back from Scotland and Iceland - it was a fantastic trip!  Here are just a few pics as I get back into the swing of things.  You must know I love this blue door from St. Andrews w/a lion knocker too.
We arrived from Glasgow on an early morning flight flight after a day and night in Iceland and headed first to St. Andrews.
We enjoyed alot of really, really good whisky but not at this barber shop though.

The view from our beautiful apartment on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh where we stayed for three nights.  Here's just the entry hall (more to come in another post.)

The view from Arthur's Seat.  Can't imagine going to Edinburg without hiking to the top of that.

A bit of gilt from the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Driving through the Highlands on the way to the Isle of Skye, via a stay in Appin, Argyle and a biking day trip to the Isle of Lismore.

Visits to castles of course but...

here's a clue to one of my favorite parts of our trip and it has to do with Downton Abbey.  Can you guess?   More on that in my next post!

Glad you had a great time. Headed to the UK in July/Aug, with a few nights in Edingburgh (and a few in Nottinghill, too)- appreciate all the tips/info. Welcome home. LPM

I'm so glad Michele that you all had a great time. I was thinking of you since we've had the coldest March in 50 years & hoping our weather was easy on you? By the looks of your adorable daughter, you weren't hampered by the cold and the snow. Your photos are terrific; you make me want to visit Scotland!Looking forward to more photos and stories. So glad you climbed to the top of Arthur's seat and loved it. Welcome home!

Love the stone buildings. I think about the skill that went into buildings so old that have withstood so much. I have never been to Scotland, but it is on my list.
