DC Design House: Sneak Peek Part 2

As I mentioned last week, the 2011 DC Design House is going to be one to remember. Liz Levin has a fresh, chic entry planned with a fabulous Ikat rug from Timothy Paul taking center stage. My photo below doesn't do the color justice - rely more on the rendering above. The chandelier is also being replaced by an amazing light fixture you won't want to miss!
Blue is my all-time favorite color and Liz has commissioned a custom photo with transparent blues from Angie Seckinger. A snapshot is captured on Liz's iphone. The entry is going to be a spectacular welcome to this home.
Camille Saum, a maven of creative interior design, has an inspiring and inventive moss treatment planned for the fireplace mantle in the dining room. The room will sing Spring with a painted yellow and white floor set off by Farrow & Ball gray walls and dreamy fabrics. Absolutely love this sumptuous and iridescent silk that will be used in the full drapes and skirted tablecloth.

Barbara Franceski will be transforming a dreary, wood paneled family room into a modern-day, functional space with vibrant color and pattern. Adore the red herringbone fabric that will be used on the sofa.
A full wood bar in the family room has the most incredible brass door detailing - which Barbara plans to keep. This feature will finally pop in the newly designed room.
The Pool Room will soon be a light and airy space that will blur the line between indoors and outdoors. Erin Page Pitts is combining nuetrals and texture with furniture that has strong lines and presence. See the bench above - two will become a pair of swings.
Lauren Liess of Pure Style Home is bringing an inspired collection of fabrics and furniture to The Hideaway Bedroom, which include some she's designed herself! The drapes will be made from her amazing Ikat, her own custom wing chair will be covered in her Magnolia fabric and the walls will be enveloped in a grasscloth. The custom grisaille artwork by John Matthew Moore will be a beautiful addition to this room.

The master bedroom is in the talented hands of Iantha Carley who will be bringing elegance and comfort to this space - along with some fun drama befitting an adjoining dressing area with it's own Juliet balcony overlooking a grand living room! Iantha has a palette of fresh and pretty colors planned and the fabric w/the birds is the ultimate in eye candy.

Alli Mann of Case/Design Modeling will be creating a luxurious bathroom that will be calm and soothing. A selection of artwork will add interest and elevate this space to a real retreat. Here's a snippet from Samantha Friedman's The Secret Garden bedroom - it's going to have it's own swing tucked into the eaves of this window. How fun!
For more info on the DC Design House go here - there are more rooms to check out. The Design House opens April 9th!

Presentation Boards! Something I have not seen done outside of school in years, but there is no better way to show a scheme to a committee or a group of clients. You have made my day! __ The Devoted Classicist

Oh Michele, you are a doll for sharing this with us!! What amazing talent and what gorgeous rooms there will be. I really want to come see it - I wonder if I can convince David to do a long weekend getaway to DC with me?! haha. We are not coming to the May conference now, so this would be a fun excuse.

Thanks for sharing - so inspiring! And would of course love to visit Lauren's room.

Wow- it looks good enough to drive the 7 hours over to see!
Hmm... I think I'll find out more and if it's do-able.

Terrific job showing all of these wonderful designers and their schemes!! I feel hopeful that this house is going to be one of the best showhouses we have had in DC in a while.
Doesn't Lauren's fabric look amazing!! Just LOVE it and her plan to bring some of the "storybook" qualities of the house into her room. I especially like her Princess and the Pea bed. She is a genius!!

That peacock fabric is divine...I like how the designer of the master bedroom kept purple in the space that had so much purple to begin with. Like she's honoring the first designer.
